Ordered because I needed to have M6 screws thread into some steel. After drilling 5mm holes, threw the steel into a vise and applied several drops of cutting fluid. Tapped the holes easily, and my screws thread in perfectly.

Worked as it should only need it for 6 hole sharp kept its edge .

Some smaller taps do not have the quality this one has, I'd say it does the job nicely.

Worked great to tap the lug nut holes on my Mini Cooper.

I have a set of cheap taps and dies which are only useful for cleaning up damaged threads. This is a real thread cutting tap and it performed as expected. Good for the price.

I needed to tap an expensive (about $1000) item. The material I wanted to tap is a hard steel, but I do not know the specific alloy or hardening process used. Not wanting to have the tap snap off inside the costly part, I bought 6 different taps, all in M6x1, to see if any would do the job. Here’s what I found:These taps were the 2rd best out of 6. The thread length is 24mm, it has 3 flutes, the taper is long so it’s easy to start, but these taps will not cut threads to the bottom of a hole. They are made in either India or Japan. These taps needed 2.5 Nm of torque to cut threads in the steel I was tapping. (The best tap needed 1.2 Nm, the worst needed 4.5 Nm.) Two taps were sent for the price. The price per tap was the second lowest of the 6 different taps I bought.

I utilized this tap to clean head bolt thread holes on the block of my 1991 ford ranger 3.0 v6 Vulcan engine prior to installing new heads. Perfect fit.

After looking all over town for a 10x1.25 mm tap, Century Drill & Tool came through. The only issue I had was that my tap handle from years ago didn't fit this tap. No worries...a pair of vice grips and I was chasing the gummed up threads on my engine in no time. I'll probably get a bigger tap handle later.
